The temperature in Mérida can be very, very hot. November through early March the heat is merely very hot. Outside this timeframe prepare to be roasted with temperatures sometimes rising to the mid-high 40s.. Climate change unfortunately has exacerbated this as can been seen from the weather over the past few years. The heat comes at you from all directions. From the sun like a death-ray but also from the walls of buildings and the black asphalt reflecting back heat from hours of sunshine. It’s impossible to escape the heat if you’re outside and in the city although finding shade will offer some respite. A parasol or wide brimmed hat are a good investment if you’re going to spend much time in the Yucatan. Clothes that cover exposed skin are also a good idea unless you are are fan of melanomas and premature aging. Despite the heat Mérida is an awesome city, very safe and lots to see and do in the environs.
Mérida caliente!
