Tulum Airport

A new international airport has recently opened in Tulum, Quintana Roo. The airport is part of the infrastructure projects related to the Tren Maya network started by the previous government. The airport is quite a long way from Tulum itself – around 40km. There is a Tren Maya station at the airport which connects with Tulum and also up the coast to Cancun. Note that almost all the Tren Maya stations are located outside their respective towns.

The airport itself is spotless and clean as one would expect with it being new. It has a few international tourist flights but generally it is a very quiet airport. Immigration is a breeze with little to no lineups. The easiest way to get into the centre of Tulum is with ADO bus line. There are regular departures with the cost being $225MXN (Feb 2025). The trip is around 45 minutes and the terminal for ADO is in the centre of Tulum. From there you can take buses up the coast to Playa del Carmen or Cancun. Alternatively you can go down the coast towards Chetumal and Belize. There are also buses inland to Valladolid and Mérida.
