I’m sure there are worse corporations than Uber but they surely merit mention among the most greedy and exploitative  companies.

In essence Uber drivers handle all the risks and most of the costs while Uber siphon off most of the revenue to sheltered tax havens. The drivers have to:

• Own/buy a vehicle
• Buy insurance
• Possess a clean drivers licence
• Maintain & repair car
• Drive, with all risks and stresses

Meanwhile Uber maintain a website albeit a sophisticated one.

Recently I took a 30 minute ride with Uber. During conversation with the driver he casually asked me how much I paid. I was surprised by the question since I assumed he would already know. Not so. Uber do not tell drivers how much customers pay. Giant RED FLAG.

I paid nearly $40 of which Uber allows the driver to take a mere $15. This works out at far less than the national minimum wage.

I tipped the driver generously for his time and exchanged phone numbers so that in future we can deal directly and avoid the parasitical Uber.

A final word of thanks Uber for letting me know how disgusting you are. I’ll never use Uber again and will encourage others to do the same or at least get the contact details from the driver and deal direct.
